THE EYE THE MOUTH AND THE REST
Questionning the eye goes with the thought of a vision in action, of a “seeing” which is first of all gestural. In this creation, the eye represents an impalpable fountain of feelings through which it produces, more than it registers, what it sees. This performance explores a kind of magic of the vision, to let the eye fit in what it meets. From the eyes to the hand, from the hand to the thoughts, the eye opens itself to receive the world within the whole body. The starting point of this performance is thus to open the eye, then to shut it supremely and in a kind of intense closure of the eyelid to take the risk to get lost and to search the inside as a place destined to be devoured. Devour the inside while devouring the outside. After being involved, in my solo performances that I have created since 2012, in the constitution of the body from the look of the other and having been investigating some of the forms of the visible, I now dive into an exercise of thinking through the vision where the eye appears as a protagonist of a movement of capturing the world. This capture, which is not isolated from the activity of looking at, is something which constitutes the dancer himself, therefore considered as a director. The dancer is the one who enables an inside picture to be experimented outside, going from the vision of the real to reality, from the deep search of oneself to the space around us, from a hidden “seeing” to the embodiment of the vision.
