VOLMIR CORDEIRO, MARCELA SANTANDER CORVALÁN & MARGOT VIDECOQ

Brésil, Chili, France

IN PARTNERSHIP WITH PASSERELLE, CENTRE D’ART CONTEMPORAIN

FROM SATURDAY 4 FEBRUARY

THE EYE THE MOUTH AND THE REST
For the 40th anniversary of the Centre Pompidou, the exhibition L’oeil la bouche et le reste was thought to be the source code, the video and textual reference base for the next performance L’oeil la bouche et le reste by the choreographer Volmir Cordeiro. It fits into a long collaboration with the Quartz and Passerelle Centre d’art contemporain focused on questioning about the issue of modern dance in the spaces and temporalities of contemporary art. The exhibition is based upon a range of work introduced during the editions of the event Vidéodanse ofthe Centre Pompidou. It includes as well, the 4th of March 2017, a performance section untitled Une nuit des visages. Several choreographers, including Aude Lachaise, Ana Rita Teodoro, Marcela Santander Corvalán, Mark Tompkins and Steven Cohen will offer small performances from work introduced through films displayed or created for this occasion.

VOLMIR CORDEIRO
Volmir Cordeiro trained in dance and theatre in Brazil and then worked in the Lia Rodrigues Companhia de Danças in the Maré neighbourhood in Rio de Janeiro. After training at the Centre National de Danse Contemporaine in Angers (France) under the direction of Emmanuelle Huynh, he joined Xavier Le Roy’s Rétrospective projet and also took part in Emmanuelle Huynh’s latest production. Following an initial solo, Ciel (2012), which was a direct address to the audience dealing with the loneliness of those weakened, banished or derailed by life, he sought to condense these figures of exclusion in a second solo, Inês (2013), presenting work in progress drawn from the latter project at the Laboratoires in 2013. He recently began his doctoral research at the University of Paris-8 investigating figures of marginality in dance, and will be using his presence at Les Laboratoires d’Aubervilliers during 2015 to develop both his theoretical and practical enquiries.
